Europe: A Continent in Concert

 

Following on from their hugely successful Broadway and Christmas concerts, Durham University Concert Band’s European extravangza performed music from across the continent in an evening of a variety of moods in Elvet Methodist Church, taking the audience on an exciting journey without having to leave their seats!

For this concert, each piece was introduced by different players which was a pleasant, unique touch.

12 Days Till Christmas

​

The beautiful and historic Durham Town Hall was the perfect venue for an evening of traditional band music and carols when Durham University Brass Band and Concert Band joined together for their festive celebration “12 Days Till Christmas”. Brass Band was led by their principal conductor Jonathan Fenwick, and Concert Band by their associate conductor, Chloe Langham. It was great to see Langham coming into her own as a conductor, but we join with the ensembles in sending well wishes to Hugo Jennings and wish him a speedy recovery.

Concert Band on Broadway

​

Selling out the historic Castle Great Hall, an eager audience packed out the venue for an evening ‘On Broadway’. Exploring a range of well-known yet ambitious show tunes including medleys from the Sound of Music, West Side Story and Guys and Dolls, it was sure to be a crowd-pleaser for the young and old alike. The eighty strong non-auditioned Concert Band have been growing from strength to strength since their 40th anniversary last year and tonight was no exception.
